Sorption-chromatographic determination of tetracycline in milk and milk products

Abstract

The sorption of tetracycline by natural zeolite are systematically studied (optimum process conditions, the distribution coefficient and sorption capacity are determined). A method for determining a given antibiotic in milk and milk products, based on the preliminary sorption concentration of tetracycline by zeolite and subsequent determination of an analyte by HPLC with UV detection are proposed. The advantages of the developed technique are low cost analysis, simplicity and rapidity of execution. The technique can be used in the practice of laboratories performing chemical analysis of foodstuffs.
Key words: tetracycline, zeolite, sorption concentration, milk and milk products.
