Effect of the initial solution on the morphology of nickel oxide nanoparticles obtained by spray pyrolysis

Abstract

NiO powder was synthesized by spray pyrolysis of aerosols of glycine-nitrate aqueous solution. Influence of initial solution on the morphology of nanostructured microspherical particles of nickel oxide was studied. It was shown the way of formation of hollow microspheres with the diameter from 0.5 to 5 µm, which walls consist of 10-20 nm particles. It was found that addition of glycine in the initial solution allows to achieve uniform porous structure of microspheres and significantly increase their surface area. The X-ray diffraction shows that glycine did not contaminate the final product.
