Cryochemical Modification of Drug Substances: Micronized Amorphous Form of Carvedilol

Abstract

X-ray amorphous form of drug substance carvedilol – (±) 1-(9H-carbazol-4-yloxy)-3-[2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)ethylamino]propan-2-ol has been obtained by cryochemical modification method including vaporization of substance in of hot carrier gas flow and followed vapor condensation on surface cooled down to the temperature of liquid nitrogen boiling (-196°C). Cryomodification along with amorphous phase formation lead to micronization – substance particles size decrease from the initial 5–10 down to 1–2 mm.
