Photochemistry of peroxide radicals in solids and on activated solid surfaces

Abstract

The data about mechanisms and efficiencies of peroxide radicals photochemical reactions in solids and onto activated solid surfaces are viewed. The data presented shown that upon excitation in 22A’ and 22A” states peroxide radicals dissociate with O-O or C-O bonds cleavage. The formation in this case a quantity of products from A2A’ state most likely is associated with exothermic “intracage” reaction of O-O bond dissociation products. The efficiencies of photoradical chain reactions of peroxide radicals onto activated surface and in polystyrene are analyzed. It shown that the chain length in real experiments are limited the values 30.
